I guess I can understand why they needed to get rid of them, but I don’t really understand why they thought people would loot a game that they couldn’t even give away. This came to mind recently when at the office store I worked at my boss was telling me how they destroy merchandise that doesn’t sell, even at $1. He said they would take software CDs and scratch them up, break furniture, etc. The last straw for me was when I saw a perfectly good tape dispenser (normally worth about $20) indicated as on sale for $0.01. I asked my boss about it, and he said that it was meant to be destroyed. I asked him if I could buy it instead, even for $5, but he wouldn’t let me. It seemed like such a pointless waste, if not for me, then at least give the merchandise away to a needy charity.

I cant understand why stores “dump” perfectly good stuff, just because they are the last of a line or the box is crushed etc instead of dragging a guy off the street and saying here, have this for free….. we waste soooo much, not just food.

My friend and I used to scour the “bargain baskets” and sell the goodies for a small profit at a local boot sale, the proceeds then went half to the PDSA (vets, my choice) and half to the local library which ran I.T classes for single mums…

Then after a while, the bargain buckets didn’t exist and the goodies got slung in the skip…which was off limits to the public. I still did my bit for the I.T section, testing and upgrading donated computers but when I think of the freebies that no-one can have it makes me RAther annoyed.
